A  Professional Networking Platform for 50+

Introduction
The Challenge
Who is your idea designed for and how does it support the dreams and obligations of those 50 and older?
The idea is to create a platform that allows individuals 50 years and older to share any interests and hobbies they have. This web-based platform will pair individuals who share similar interests or hobbies and will help them develop a way to profit off of their hobbies. Essentially, this platform will be shaped like a social media site or similar networking platform. By taking what they love to do, connecting them with others, and helping them generate a profit off these shared interests, this platform is going to offer support to the dreams and goals of those 50 years and older. The idea stems from the realization that so many people spend time working a job that is unfulfilling and . However, when someone is nearing 50 years old they are most likely heading towards retirement and want to do something that they actually enjoy. This something can be a hobby they have been looking forward to doing for a long time, but never actually had the time to do and they can make money while they do it. As clich√© as it seems, our platform is going to vitalize dreams. Our platform will support the dreams and obligations of those 50 years and older by helping them live a life they want to live, meeting people who are like them and allowing them to make money while doing it.
What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?
To find out if this idea will meet our expectations we will create a tester platform. This tester will start with a small area - perhaps a couple of cities in our area. We will test about 100 individuals who are 50 years or older by allowing them to try out the platform. We will start with basic questions that gather information about the individuals. This information will include, age, hometown, current or previous occupation, and of course hobby. Our platform will then search the 100 people we are testing to find a match. This lightweight experiment will allow us to figure out if this innovative platform will work. If we cannot make a match within 100 individuals, then we know we need to change something about the platform. Ideally, we will be able to make matches with just 100 people, which will tell us that we are capable of expanding the platform.
What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?
In order to build our platform, we will need guidance from experienced website builders. We have the ideas and the creativity for this innovation, but we need assistance with the execution. It would be beneficial for us to coordinate our ideas with individuals who are familiar with coding social media platforms. It would also be useful to gather input from other contestants, because perhaps they have ideas that could make this platform incredibly successful. It is our belief that the more insights involved, the better the innovation.
Tell us about your work experience:
